OK, so the past few weeks I've been seeing this grow and it's finally reached a breaking point for me.

So it started when I began seeing "David Duke for Mayor" stickers on traffic signs two months or so back. It didn't sit well with me but not enough to stir up a reaction either way. Also I know there's no way Duke would ever be elected in New Orleans, so the stickers seemed to be more people having nothing better to do. But a few weeks ago I saw a swastika scrawled on a utility box in Metairie in marker. That pissed me off. OK, so if anyone out there is going to continue with ignorant racial ideals then fine, but now you're dragging my religion through the mud for your own ends, which is something I will not suffer.

The 'swastika' is and was a holy symbol to many people, including the tribal and pre-christian societies of Europe long before Hitler decided to use it and other traditional symbols to manipulate a group of people who were completely devastated by World War 1 and had been trying to find their roots even before that (Wagner, et al). It is a symbol found in almost every civilization around the world at some point, to the Hindu it represents 'protection', to different nations of Native Peoples in America it has varying meanings, to the pre-christian heathens of Europe it was a symbol of protection, and to the people who still follow that religion it is a sacred symbol and still carries that meaning despite how the NSDAP attempted to bend it to their ideals. Most of us will not place it in public because we know that it can be offensive, which until we can not only educate the general population about the difference between 'Nazis' and heathens and our uses of the symbols but the modern 'Nazis' and racists as well to understand that the symbol doesn't fit their needs, we will not be able to use it openly without being misunderstood as to why it is being used. It represents the protection of Thor's Hammer protecting not only the Gods but the entire world. Odin is known as the All-Father because in our tradition he sired ALL the races of humanity, not just the Europeans.

As far as the NSDAP and their beliefs in the heathen beliefs, they didn't have any for the most part, especially after Hitler came to power (yes it was around before Hitler, in fact it was a political party without any racist or anti-semetic tendencies in the late 1800's), and their attitudes towards heathen beliefs can be seen here :
Hitler and other Nazis were explicit in their contempt of the ancient gods. Alfred Rosenberg exclaimed, "Odin is dead!". And Hitler himself declared that the future "must not take the form of a revival of the worship of Wotan."

Baldur von Schirach, leader of the Hitler Youth, assured German parents that "it is my purpose neither to re-erect in the forests of Germany heathen altars and introduce our youth to any kind of Wotan's cult, nor in any way to hand over young Germany to the magical altars of the herb-apostles..." As well, I have noticed that there have recently been 'Confederate' flag stickers on street signs. Don't even start with the "heritage not hate" argument, because if it was 'heritage' you wouldn't use the CSA BATTLE FLAG, you would use the STATE FLAG, or one of the 4 or 5 versions of it. But again, this is the same reason that heathens do not display the 'swastika' in public no matter how sacred it is, because to some people it has other meanings.

In short, despite this rambling, you cowardly asshats out there trying to stir shit up can kiss my German/Scandinavian/English ass if you think you can use symbols from my religion for your own ends. If you've still got your head so far up your collective asses that you think "David Duke for Mayor" and Confederate Battle Flag stickers are such a wonderful idea in this city at this time in history than PUT THEM ON YOUR CAR. Placing them anonymously does not make any statement other than YOU ARE COWARDS! Come on, "stand up and be counted, show the world that you're a man..." you know how the song goes don't you? Or do you? The last 'swastika' I saw a few days ago in the city was facing the opposite way from how the NSDAP used it. You got some smarts there dontcha? Grow up, grow some balls, and quit trying to cause more problems you morons.
